I did my undergraduate work in Education at Holy Family, and now I’ve returned
to work on a master’s degree. I’ve pursued both studies at Holy Family
because the academic programs are excellent, but also because they are taught
in a supportive environment that continually motivates you to be your best. The
smaller classes here make possible individualized attention from professors,
and a level of encouragement and support, particularly within your area of study,
that you just don’t find at many universities. Also, a Catholic school,
Holy Family has provided me a strong moral foundation, instilling in me a sense
of caring and responsibility that I will carry each day into the classroom, and
always.

Major: Criminal Justice
I’ve always enjoyed criminal justice. When I was a kid, I wanted to be
a superhero! When I came to Holy Family, I was interested in becoming a policeman,
and later I thought about law school. My teacher at Holy Family encouraged me
to stay with my passion. What never changed was criminal justice, and then it
dawned on me: Wouldn’t it be great to teach it? That same teacher allowed
me to do an internship with her. I started by assisting with research. Then,
she allowed me to teach one of her intro classes – and I loved it! Now,
I’ve
started graduate school at Holy Family – so that I might encourage
others who like criminal justice as much as I do. So that I can be there for
students, the way Holy Family was there for me.

Major: Radiologic Science
Going into college, I really didn’t know what to expect. I knew I wanted
to study Radiologic Science, but I could never have imagined the wonderful experience
that awaited me. My education at Holy Family was a very personal one. I built
close relationships not only with my classmates, but with my professors as well.
My classmates became my close friends, and my teachers truly cared about me and
my education. We became a family – learning and growing together. Now,
I have a great job, working in both an outpatient center and a hospital. Every
day and every patient is different. I am so grateful to all those at Holy Family
who worked with me, supported me and inspired me toward my dream.

At Holy Family, we want students to dream big, and it is our mission to encourage
and support those dreams. To that end, we engage students on a daily basis,
getting to know them, and building important relationships that help to empower
their success. Our classes at Holy Family are small – in major courses,
there may be just 12 to 15 students – and so these conversations and interactions
occur more naturally. We’re able to talk with our students, challenge them,
and give them the personal attention and care they deserve. These are relationships
that make a tremendous difference in our students’ success. They are deep,
they are sincere, and they are life-changing.
