Goals

  • To offer students a solid foundation in the discipline, with special emphasis on the "sociological perspective"
  • To provide students with a thorough understanding of the various perspectives and research traditions reflected in sociological theory
  • To introduce students to the basic elements of sociological research
  • To allow students to synthesize active learning in the classroom and increase engagement in the community through successful "sociological practice"
  • To develop in students the academic and professional skills that will enable them to succeed professionally in some area of sociological practice upon graduation.
