State Assistance
Pennsylvania State Grant – This grant is administered by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA). Grants are awarded to Pennsylvania residents enrolled half-time (at least six credits) based on PHEAA’s eligibility determination. PHEAA utilizes the FAFSA information to determine eligibility.The deadline for submitting the FAFSA to be considered for a PA grant is May 1.
Other State Grants – Some states, such as Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, as well as the District of Columbia, provide grant and scholarship money for students attending out-of-state colleges. Students should check with their guidance counselor or state’s Higher Education Assistance Agency for details. The filing deadlines listed for FAFSA must be met.
