At Holy Family University,
the designation "part-time" applies primarily to traditional
and nontraditional students enrolled in credit courses on a part-time
basis (i.e., taking fewer than 12 credit hours a semester). This
program is intended to satisfy the needs, interests, and goals of
the nontraditional, working adult student who wishes to begin or
to complete a degree program, to pursue a second career, or to seek
professional advancement or personal enrichment.
Part-time students may enroll for day, evening, or Saturday courses,
choosing whichever schedule best meets their needs.
Admission Procedures
The criteria for part-time undergraduate admission to Holy Family
University are primarily the applicant's ability to meet the educational
standards of the institution, the intellectual interest and training
of the applicant, and the applicant's motivation to pursue university
studies within the scope of the aims and objectives established
by the University.
Auditors
Auditors are students who wish to benefit personally, intellectually,
from courses normally offered for credit, but who do not want to
assume the student responsibilities for the class attendance, testing,
and grading. They are charged the auditing fee, which is 50% of
the applicable per-credit tuition. Requests to change enrollment
status from audit to credit must be made within the first two weeks
of the start class in the registrar's office. Without a change in
status, credit will not be granted for an audited course.
Degree Seeking: Matriculated Part-time Students
Includes those who qualify for official candidate status,
have completed their file of credentials, and have been
accepted to a degree program.
Degree Seeking: Non-Matriculated Part-time Students
Includes those who have made application and intend a program of
study toward the attainment of a degree but have not been officially
accepted as degree candidates. To attain matriculated status (i.e.,
official acceptance as a degree candidate), the student's academic
credential file must be complete and the student must complete an
academic review. A non-matriculated student may not take more than
24 credits of study before matriculation must be sought. Non-matriculated
students are not eligible for financial aid. Until matriculation,
these students are classified as non-matriculated/non-degree seeking.
High School Students
High school students are welcome to enroll for credit courses at
Holy Family University, but they must secure written authorization
from the school's principal or counselor before enrolling for courses.
The letter of authorization is presented to the registrar at the
time of registration. Regular tuition and fees of Holy Family University
apply.
Non-Degree Seeking Students
Includes those who are taking credit courses for enrichment or certification
purposes rather than for a degree. An official high school transcript
is required for any high school student in this category. Those
seeking professional certification must submit all college transcripts
and complete a review process by the School of Education for acceptance
to any teacher certification program.
Registered Nurses
In addition to the requirements stated above, licensed registered
nurses must submit official transcript from the School of Nursing
and a photostatic copy of the license to practice professional nursing.
Senior Citizens
Delaware Valley resident's age 65 or older may audit one credit
course tuition-free (per semester) on a space-available basis. They
pay a $20 registration fee and all applicable course fees. This
courtesy applies to audit/non-credit enrollment only. Registration
is usually held one week prior to the start of courses at the Northeast
Campus.
Transfer Credits
The maximum number of transfer credits that will be
accepted is 75. Only grades of "C" or above will be
accepted for transfer. Transfer credits will be officially
accepted and posted to the student's academic record
only after matriculation.
In general, credits earned applicable to the intended degree in
which the applicant has earned a grade of "C" or better at an accredited
institution of higher learning within ten years of application to
Holy Family University will be accepted for transfer.
