Awards & Scholarships

The Alumni Achievement Award is given to a graduate who displays great accomplishment(s) in one or more of the following areas: professional advancement, community volunteer service, and humanitarian efforts bringing recognition to them and to Holy Family University.

The Distinguished Alumni Service Award is presented to an active member of the Alumni Association demonstrating long-term service and dedication to the University and/or the Alumni Association.

The Distinguished Nursing Alumni Award is presented to a graduate of the School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions who displays accomplishment in the nursing profession as well as a commitment to his or her community through volunteer service and humanitarian efforts. This award is presented annually by the School of Nursing and Allied Health and the Alumni Association.

The Alumni Educator of the Year Award is presented annually to a graduate of the School of Education who has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in the teaching profession and dedication to the community that he or she serves. This award is presented by the School of Education and the Alumni Association.

The Sister M. Immaculata Kraemer Memorial Award is presented to an individual or group – not necessarily graduates of the institution – who has/have dedicated unending time and energy in support of the university community and its mission. The award is presented in memory of Sister M. Immaculata Kraemer, CSFN, for her service and dedication to the Alumni Association as its moderator from 1960 to 1972. This award is not presented every year. It is given only when the Alumni Association of Holy Family feels the service and dedication of an individual or group warrants special recognition.

Alumni Senior Award
This award, presented at Commencement, honors a graduating student who best represents the Holy Family University student body through his or her campus involvement, community service on behalf of the University, life experience, and academic achievements. 

Alumni Association Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 1978 by the Holy Family University Alumni Association for the children of Holy Family graduates.  The scholarship is awarded to current students whose scholastic record is satisfactory and who demonstrate evidence of financial need.  For application information, contact the Alumni Office at

Distinguished Alumni Nursing Award
Susan Apold, RN, ANP-BC, PhD
Alumni Class of 1979
Dean and Professor of Nursing at Concordia College, New York;  numerous editorials and publications; maintains a private practice as an Adult Nurse Practitioner; research on career satisfaction and leadership development in nursing; editorial board member of the Journal for Nurse Practitioners; several awards for nursing excellence.

Alumni Educator of the Year
Maryann Molishus
Alumni Class of 2000
Elementary school teacher at Goodnoe Elementary School in Newtown, PA; creative innovator in the use of technology in the classroom; serves as a Keystones Technology Integrator for the Pennsylvania Department of Education; received the 2008 Milken National Educator Award along with 70 other teachers from other states.

Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award
Sister Miriam Joseph Mikol, CSFN
Alumni Class of 1966
International ambassador on behalf of the Community including teaching and administrative assignments in Australia; served as secretary general of the International Union of Superiors General in Rome; currently spearheading a collaborative effort to offer a masters degree in leadership in mission for women religious from developing countries throughout the world.
