Applying for Financial Aid

Holy Family University stands ready to help students and their families achieve the goal of a private university education. 



More than 85 percent of Holy Family undergraduates receive financial aid in some form. Through federal, state, institutional, and private sources, the Financial Aid Office is committed to helping families find the resources to help meet university costs.

Application Process

In order to be considered for financial aid, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can obtain this form from your high school guidance counselor or from Holy Family University. You may also complete the FAFSA on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Be sure to complete all pages of the form and list Holy Family University, code 003275. Review it for accuracy and make a copy for your files before submitting it. 

After You Submit Your Application
  • About four to six weeks after you submit your FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the federal processors. If you do not receive your SAR, you should call 800-433-3243 to make sure the processor received your FAFSA. If it was received, you may request a duplicate SAR. Once you receive your SAR, read it carefully to be sure the information is accurate. The SAR will provide instructions about how to make corrections, if needed.
  • You may also receive a State Grant Acknowledgment. States follow different procedures for advising students of their eligibility for state aid. Pennsylvania students will receive a notice approximately six weeks after filing the FAFSA. If you have any questions regarding the notice or if you do not receive your notice within six weeks, you may call the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) at 800-692-7392.
  • Holy Family University will receive a need analysis directly from the federal processor within four to six weeks after you file your FAFSA. Once it is received and you are accepted for admission to Holy Family University, the Financial Aid Office will provide you with an estimate of your financial aid. Your aid package may later be revised if there are changes made to your SAR, enrollment status, housing status, etc.
Important Financial Aid Policies
  • Students who receive outside scholarships are required to inform the Financial Aid Office of the name and amount of the scholarship.
  • Students may lose their aid if they do not maintain satisfactory academic progress as stated in the University catalog.
  • Except for some Holy Family University scholarships, you must reapply for financial aid each academic year.
  • Holy Family University awards University-based grants and scholarships to first-year through fourth-year students. Fifth-year students may be eligible for Federal Pell Grants as well as Federal Work Study Programs (FWSP) and loans but not University-based funds.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to notify the University's Financial Aid Office if he or she changes their enrollment status as this may affect the student's aid.
