Diplomas
At the 9:30 am Graduate Commencement Ceremony, the Provost will announce the names of the graduate degree recipients. Graduates will walk up onto the stage from the steps on the right side of the stage and exit by walking across the stage and down the steps on the left side of the stage after receiving a diploma folder and shaking hands with the President. Graduates should sit down immediately upon returning to their seats. When all graduates have received their diploma folders and are again seated, the Provost will instruct graduates to turn their tassels from the right side to the left side of their caps which officially signifies that they are now graduates.
At
the 12:30 pm Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony, the
appropriate academic administrator will announce the names of the graduates.
Graduates will be directed to the steps leading to the stage from their seats
and, after receiving a diploma folder from and shaking hands with the President,
will return to their seats. Graduates should sit down immediately upon
returning to their seats. When all graduates have received their diploma
folders and are again seated, the Provost will instruct them to turn their
tassels from the right side to the left side of their caps which signifies
that they are officially graduated.
Immediately after both the graduate and undergraduate ceremonies, graduates who are just completing their programs of study with the Spring Semester 2013 will be able to pick up their diplomas in the Rehearsal Hall.
Signs will be posted on tables on the stage of the Rehearsal Hall where advisors and staff from the Academic Advising Center and the Office of the Registrar will distribute diplomas to those graduates who completed their formal degree requirements in Spring 2013. The Rehearsal Hall is the same location where all degree candidates line up for the processional into the Concert Hall.
