Holy Family University: Counseling Services

Counseling Services

Consultation
Students meet with a professional counselor for a brief consultation to determine which services are most appropriate for their present concerns.  Following the consultation, students are provided with recommendations for services on-campus and/or in the community in which they live.

Individual Counseling & Referrals
Short-term individual counseling (typically one semester) and referral assistance are available to students at the discretion of the counselor.  The Counseling Center offers individual counseling and other support for academic and personal concerns.  Referrals to community services are provided to complement campus counseling services or as more appropriate resources for a student’s needs.

Workshops
The Counseling Center offers workshops on topics of interest to students at Holy Family University. Check with the Counseling Center or the campus calendar for current topics and dates.

Reverse Invitations:  Check your email – the Counseling Center is coming to your classrooms, offices, and residential housing.  Through Reverse Invitations, we tailor presentations to your specific requests. Rather than predesigning workshops, tell us what you want included in a program.  We wish to educate you in areas that you find important to your everyday living and overall health.  Please reply to the email invitations we will send out to set up a workshop with our staff.

Choosing a Major & Vocational Interest Assessment
The Counseling Center, often in collaboration with the Careers Center, offers personality and vocational assessment tools designed to assist students with making good decisions regarding their major area of study and career choices. Utilizing tools such as the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory, students can begin making decisions about choosing a major and career path in line with their personality style and long-term goals.  Students currently utilizing Counseling Center services will work with our office; other students should contact the Careers Center directly for vocational assessment services.Â
