Logo Attributes and Meaning

A logo is a critical element in the building of a brand identity. It is the touchstone by which audiences judge the quality of an institution, as well as a visual representation of a brand and everything a brand stands for. Holy Family University recently updated its brand promise as follows: "To purpose-driven students, Holy Family's holistic educational experience promises the knowledge, practice, and formation for outstanding professional accomplishment and abundant, consequential lives." The newly developed logo aims to embody the spirit of this promise and forms the cornerstone of the new Holy Family University brand identity.

The configuration of this logo is derived from the original University seal.

The shield is taken from the interior of the founding seal and continues to symbolize the University’s enduring adherence to academic excellence.

The three segments that form the base of the shield symbolize the three main tenets of the Holy Family brand promise: knowledge (intellectual growth), practice (professional growth), and formation (spiritual growth).

The three crosses represent both the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) and the Holy Family (Jesus, Mary, Joseph).

From the center of the base, a point of light radiates outward to form the top of the shield. The rays ascending from the center point symbolize the dawning of a new phase of growth for the University. The five rays also represent the University Brand Pillars: Core Values, Liberal Arts, Professional Career Development, Expert Mentoring Faculty, and Experiential Learning.
