2. Subject Indexes

  • Is your topic in a particular subject area?

If so, use a subject index. Subject indexes specialize in a particular subject, and the articles indexed are generally from scholarly sources. Examples of subject indexes and the kinds of articles they identify are:

American Humanities Index
 Indexes articles in humanities topics, such as literature, the arts, and philosophy
Education Full Text
 Indexes articles about education
CINAHL
 Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature indexes articles in nursing and health journals.
