Accessing
SEPCHe-books from netLibrary
E-books can be accessed from on or off campus. If you want
to access the netLibrary collection remotely, you will need to create
an account from on-campus first. This will allow you to login to
the system later from off-campus.
In order to "check out" an e-book you will need to create an individual
user id and password for yourself. The first time you check out an e-book,
you will need to fill in a short registration form. Once you've done this,
you can login to netLibrary using your id and password. (Note that this
is NOT the standard ID and password used for our research databases.)
You can browse the full text of e-books online and make notes or add bookmarks
to keep track of your reading. If you are planning to spend some time
reading the book, you should check it out using the "Checkout this e-book"
button. If you have not checked a book out, the system will return it
to the "shelf" after 15 minutes, and your notes and bookmarks will be
removed. The checkout period for e-books is 3 weeks.
You can search for e-books by title, author, subject, or other information.
Once you have located an e-book you are interested, click on the title
to view more information. Clicking on "Browse this e-book" or "Checkout
this e-book" will bring up a screen that allows you to view the full text
of the book. Use the table of contents on the right to navigate through
chapters, and the page forward/back arrows at the top of the screen to
move between pages.
WARNING!
The documents contained here can be very large, some in excess of several
hundred pages. Please be selective when printing. Printing more than one
chapter of any e-book is in violation of Holy Family's policy, in accordance
with copyright law.
