About the Conference
On
the night of November 9, 1938, Nazi pogroms against Jews throughout Germany
and Austria began with Krystallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass. Jewish
homes and businesses were vandalized and looted leaving broken glass and ushering
in a new chapter in Nazi anti-semitism. After Krystallnacht, Nazi deportation
and internment of Jews began in earnest. On this 70th anniversary of
Krystallnacht, you are asked to consider ways in which Nazi terror has redefined
the world.
At the next anniversary of Krystallnacht, the Graduate Programs of the School
of Arts and Sciences at Holy Family University will present a two-day interdisciplinary
conference entitled "70 Years Later: The Global Impact of the Holocaust" to
be held on November 14-15, 2009. Panels, presentations, and poster sessions
will be accepted from all disciplines.
