Sister Maureen McGarrity, CSFN, PhD, President of Holy Family University, has been selected to the St. Patrick’s Ring of Honor and will join the other nominees during the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, taking place on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 12 pm – 3 pm. The theme of this year’s parade is “St. Patrick, Bless Those Who Respond to the Call of the Needy.”
According to the St. Patrick's Day Observance Association, the St. Patrick's Ring of Honor recognizes 6-8 individuals who have given exemplary service in and to the Irish community of the Philadelphia tri-state area. Honorees should be persons who have an Irish background or who have made a profound impact in the Irish community or the parade.
“I am honored and very grateful to have been selected for the Ring of Honor in the 2018 St. Patrick's Day Observance,” McGarrity said. “This celebration not only promotes pride in our shared Irish ancestry but highlights in a very special way the extent of talent and many contributions being made to our city and region by those of Irish heritage.”
In addition to Sister Maureen, other nominees this year include Joseph Ashdale, Eileen Conboy Barrilli, Rev. James Callahan, Joseph Driscoll, Clare McManus Fulginitti, Jack Gill, William Heeney Sr., Bobby Henon, Monsignor Paul Kennedy, Sr. Kathleen Klarich, RSM, Siobhan Lyons, Wayne Miller, Brian O'Neill, Tom Regan, Mike Roman, and Sean Trainor.
