Holy Family University Art Gallery presents Middle Ground, works by Jonathan Clyde Frey
Exhibit: November 2 – December 2, 2018
Artists Talk and Reception: Wednesday, November 7 | 12 pm – 2 pm
The Holy Family University Art Gallery is pleased to present presents Middle Ground, works by Jonathan Clyde Frey.
Frey is an artist and designer whose work broadly explores the influences of ideology on contemporary culture. He has earned degrees in Art and Design from the University of Dayton, the University of Florida, and the Pratt Institute, and is currently an Assistant Professor at Bucknell University.
From the artist: “In short, this work explores American identity, focusing on iconic representations of the United States and the myths, clichés, and stereotypes they often come to represent. However, I am also interested in examining this work through the lens of Middle Ground, commonly defined as an area of compromise or possible agreement between two extreme positions, especially political ones. It strikes me as odd how complex issues are typically stripped down to two positions. In our present political climate, I am more interested in contemplating the gray areas in between.”
The event will take place at Holy Family University’s Education Technology Center (ETC) in the lobby and art gallery. Parking is available to all in the Campus Center parking lot in the visitor section without restriction.
This exhibition is part of Holy Family's monthly Gallery shows held throughout the academic year, each of which showcases a new and diverse exhibit featuring artists from around the world as well as Holy Family University's graduating art majors. The intended audiences of this exhibition are people of all ages.
The University Art Gallery is located on the Lower Level of the Education & Technology Center on the University’s Northeast Philadelphia campus. The exhibit is free and open to the public. The Gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 8 am - 8 pm.
