Holy Family University’s Art Gallery presents The REFLECTIONS Series by Nevin Mercede from September 6–26, with an artist reception held on Thursday, September 26, from 7–9 pm.
The REFLECTIONS Series represents a 15-year exploration of integrating words with images through these smaller, mostly hand-held, objects that employ multi-panel relationships toward increasing potential meanings. The reflections are visual—landscapes as seen on water surfaces—and verbal—addressing social, political, and educational issues as framed through collected quotes and/or reflective writings.
Nevin Mercede has exhibited nationally since the 1980s while also teaching at the college level. Works fromThe REFLECTIONS Series were seen recently at the Earlville (NY) Opera House, the Red House Art Center in Syracuse, NY, and the Yellow Springs (OH) Arts Council Art Gallery.
The University Art Gallery is located on the Lower Level of the Education & Technology Center on the University’s Northeast Philadelphia campus. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
