Join Me as We Pray for Healing

Dear Holy Family Community,

I am shaken to my core over what’s been happening in our world the past few days, and I wanted to reach out and share my feelings with all of you.

The past few months have been challenging, but what we’ve seen over the last few days has been downright horrendous.

The murder of George Floyd was surreal to watch, and it showed us once again how deep the roots of racism are in this country. What we saw on that video has to stop. We cannot abide this continuing intolerance and this completely unacceptable behavior.

Nor can we accept what has come out of this tragedy - unnecessary vandalism which received more media coverage and more attention than the just and peaceful protests that took place in cities across the country. For those of you who participated in those peaceful protests, thank you and God bless you. We need more of that.

At Holy Family University, we teach people of every race and nationality, our professors hail from every race and nationality, and we serve people of every race and nationality. Racism in any form has no place on this campus and it never will.

I stand with those outraged by the injustice done to George Floyd and I stand with those who peacefully protest that injustice. This has to stop - and we need to find peaceful solutions to ensure that happens now.
