Eric NelsonAs vice president of mission and diversity, Sister Rita Fanning, CSFN, '89 assists the University President, trustees, faculty, administration, staff, students, and alumni to integrate the Mission and Core Values of Holy Family University into life as a University community. She facilitates the University's transformation and growth as a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, honoring the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and the universal call to serve others. The position provides a resource to help develop and implement university policies aligned with the values expressed in the University's Mission and the Mission of the Congregation.

Professional Biography

As a Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth, Sister Rita Fanning, CSFN, '89 has been an elementary school teacher in both the Baltimore and Philadelphia Archdioceses, a high school guidance counselor, and principal of our sponsored private college preparatory school for girls in Philadelphia.
In addition, she has dedicated her work to the social services, field ministering as house mother and counselor, and as the executive director of residential programs and alternative schools sponsored by the Sisters on both the Eastern and Western sides of Pennsylvania. Sister served as a member of the Provincial Council for Holy Family Province in Des Plaines, Illinois. Most recently, she served as the business manager for the Nazareth Retreat Center in Grand Prairie, TX.
Sister’s educational background includes a BA in Elementary Education from Holy Family University and an MS in Counseling Psychology and Human Services from Chestnut Hill College.
