The Holy Family University Art Gallery presents “We Are Who We Are,” works by seniors Kathleen O’Connor and Samantha Siess. The art exhibit opens on Tuesday, April 30, and runs through August 10. An opening reception and meet and greet with the artists will take place on Tuesday, April 30, from 6—8 pm.
“We Are Who We Are” is an exhibition that includes a culmination of physical, emotional, and mental issues. Both artists have created their work towards the idea of acceptance of themselves and others to fulfill ultimate happiness.
Siess’s sculptures display women in vulnerable states in which they are forced to accept themselves for who they are. Her work also targets some key issues people face daily.
O’Connor’s paintings are created to urge the audience to relate to the symbolism of an everyday object and relate it back to some emotional aspect of his or her life.
The University Art Gallery is located on the Lower Level of the Education & Technology Center on the University’s Northeast Philadelphia campus. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
