Position Summary
The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of English to begin August 2026. We seek a dynamic teacher-scholar to teach ENGL115: Public Speaking as well as English major courses within their area of specialty. This secondary area of specialization is open.
All employees are expected to understand the mission of Catholic higher education and to support the core values, mission, goals and objectives of Holy Family University.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Responsibilities
- Teaching courses in the specified discipline, including ENGL115
- Serving as the point of contact for ENGL 115 sections
- Fostering academic excellence in the classroom
- Advising students in the assigned discipline
- Maintaining an active program of research/scholarship
- Participating in school- and university-wide service, committees, and initiatives
Education & Experience Requirements
- PhD in English, Rhetoric & Composition, Communication Studies, or a closely related field, or an MFA in a relevant discipline
- Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching (experience at the secondary school level will also be considered)
- Evidence of ongoing scholarly or creative activity
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic Social Teaching
