Second Degree Distance Hybrid BSN Program Coordinator 

The Second-Degree Distance Hybrid BSN Program Coordinator is faculty position responsible for advancing the mission of the University and School by providing academic and administrative leadership to the Distance/Hybrid program. The Second-Degree BSN Coordinator is a 12-month position teaches a 12-credit load per academic year and serves as the on-site and off-site coordinator of the Distance program.  

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Serves as an academic advisor for students enrolled in the Distance program in conjunction with faculty teaching in the program.
  • Plans courses offerings in consultation with the Dean and Associate Dean of the SONHS. 
  • Collaborates with the clinical coordinator to plan and implement clinical experiences for students in the distance program   
  • Monitors and evaluates the students in Distance Program for academic integrity, compliance with SONHS and University policies, and compliance with requirements of accrediting and regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborates and works with Keypath in all services provided to the students in the Distance program. 
  • Reports on the Distance Program at BSN Council meetings.
  • Participates in Dean’s Academic Leadership Council. 
  • Participates in admission decisions specific to Distance program applicants.
  • Oversees orientation of new student cohorts and coordinates participation of related student services. 
  • Participates in planning and facilitates Student Recognition/Pinning Ceremony for each cohort.
  • Addresses student issues and complaints in Distance program in collaboration with course coordinators and faculty.
  • Monitors Distance program student progression and program retention, and makes recommendations for student support and improvement of retention. Implements and monitors remediation plans for students as necessary.
  • Contributes information to formative and summative Nursing Program evaluations.
  • Promotes the visibility of the Distance program to the public, academic communities, professional nursing constituents, and other health care providers.
  • Participates in University marketing and recruitment activities.
  • Assists with adjunct faculty recruitment and supervision.
  • Participates in faculty orientation and evaluation.

Qualifications

Education and Experience 

  • Certified unrestricted PA Registered Nurse license.
  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related discipline or progress toward completion of degree within five (5) years. 
  • Prior teaching experience in an accelerated pre-licensure BSN program.
  • Demonstrated administrative experience in nursing education.
  • An established record of effective, strong and collaborative leadership

  • Knowledge of and ability to follow university policies and procedures. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the campus community.
  • Comfortable working autonomously.
  • Maintains consistent and positive customer relations, responding to requests in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Ability to work with students and staff from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for identifying issues, communicating with stakeholders (faculty, students, staff and agencies), and obtaining support for the nursing program.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and advising of undergraduate students consistent with the department’s mission, values, and program outcomes.
