Public Relations Track

A career in Public Relations is high energy, fast-paced, and exciting. Public relations is about influencing, engaging, and building relationships with key stakeholders to contribute to the way an organization is perceived. Public Relations professionals create and implement strategic communication plans to help organizations build and maintain beneficial relationships with their various publics. They are visionaries and love to interact with other people. Public relations work includes anticipating, analyzing, and interpreting public opinion, counseling management, developing programs that inform public understanding, and planning and implementing an organization’s efforts to influence or change public policy. Graduates have opportunities to work within corporations, agencies, health organizations, government, and in the entertainment industry.

HFU’s Public Relations program blends the strengths of theoretical and hands-on approaches. Our location in Philadelphia gives students exposure to large and small events and opportunities to access media professionals, internships, and jobs. Students in the program are encouraged to join our Public Relations Student Society of America chapter and take advantage of its activities.

Our Public Relations curriculum prepares students to manage communication programs of public, non-profit, and private organizations. Students gain skills in persuasive writing and image branding, design techniques for communication messages, communication research, strategic coordination, and planning. Advanced courses give students practices in event planning and promotion, reputation management, advocacy campaigns, and crisis communication.
