Recent Alum Celebrates Celebrates Commencement... and an Engagement!

Tenae Gentner ’20

All Holy Family University Class of 2021 and 2020 graduates had reason to celebrate during last weekend's Commencement ceremonies, but Tenae Gentner ’20 had an extra reason to be filled with joy – just minutes after she crossed the stage during Commencement, her boyfriend of two years, Shawn, proposed to her.

Gentner, who received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice on Saturday, May 15, admits that she was shocked by Shawn’s proposal. "That was the most surprised I was in my life,” she explains. “I wasn't expecting it at all. And I'm a hard person to surprise! He did a good job."

While Gentner will now be busy planning a wedding with her new fiancé, she has already been keeping busy since completing her degree in December 2020. In Fall 2020, Gentner had an internship with YWCA Bucks County. In mid-December, she was offered a full-time position at YWCA to manage cases for homeless individuals. “It's a rewarding position," she says, “and I was lucky enough to be offered it right after graduating.”

"Walking for graduation definitely felt good,” Gentner adds. “It's a moment that everybody waits for. Plus, I got engaged right after, which made it more exciting!"
