Reminder & Update: CARES Act Emergency Financial Aid

Update:

May 14, 2020

Dear Students,

The deadline to apply for emergency financial aid is next Monday, May 18. I also want to inform you that last week, the IRS announced that all grants received under the CARES Act are non-taxable. For a complete explanation of this determination, click here.

If you believe you may be eligible to receive a grant, and have not already submitted an application, I encourage you to visit this page to do so. As a reminder, if you are an undergraduate student, who already received Title IV federal financial aid for the spring 2020 semester, or a graduate student that received federal loans for the spring 2020 semester, you may qualify for emergency financial aid related to food, housing, technology, course materials, healthcare, and childcare. (Eligible students must have an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of less than $15,000.)

Holy Family will evaluate requests based on student need and available funding, and is committed to doing so quickly. If your grant is approved, you will receive an email the week of May 27 at your Holy Family email account letting you know your approved federal emergency grant amount. Funds will be disbursed in June via check or ACH deposit. You can set up your student account for direct deposit here, if you have not already done so. Students who are not eligible, or whose application for emergency aid is not approved, will also be notified via email during the same time period.

Again, we hope to provide financial assistance to as many students as possible by way of this funding. Please consider completing an application if you have not already done so.

Sincerely,

Abby
