Holy Family University Distinguished Writers Series Welcomes Critically Acclaimed Novelist Liz Moore

Holy Family University welcomes critically acclaimed fiction and creative nonfiction novelist Liz Moore in its Distinguished Writers Series on Tuesday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m. at Holy Family University’s Education and Technology Center Auditorium (9801 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19114).  The event is FREE and open to public. Those wishing to attend should reserve their place through the registration form.

Guests should arrive at the Education and Technology Center on Holy Family’s Philadelphia campus (9801 Frankford Avenue) by 6:15 p.m.  Free parking is available in the Holy Family Hall parking lot.

About Liz Moore

Moore is the critically acclaimed writer of four novels, including her most recent work, Long Bright River, which was published by Riverhead Books in January 2020. The novel became an instant New York Times and international bestseller and was selected by Barack Obama as one his favorite books of 2020. A television adaptation of the book is currently underway. She is the winner of the Medici Book Club Prize and Philadelphia’s Athenaeu Literary Award, among others. Moore has served on the faculty at Holy Family University.

The Holy Family University Distinguished Writers Series, led by assistant professor and program director Keith Kopka, Ph.D. and assistant professor Raena Shirali, is committed to bringing visiting authors and scholars to the Northeast Philadelphia campus each academic year for free, public readings and student-centered events as a way to promote diversity and social awareness. Through its dedication to the Holy Family University mission and core values of community, respect, integrity, experiential learning, vision and service, the Distinguished Writers Series offers an intellectual environment that fosters the free exchange of ideas with writers, scholars and thinkers of different backgrounds, ethnicities, viewpoints, and writing styles.

Previous artists featured in the series include: R.O. Kwon, Ananda Lim, Raquel Salas Rivera, Carmen Maria Machado, Krys Malcolm Belc, Airea D. Matthews, Torrey Pines and Yolanda Wisler, among others.
