Early Alert System

Our Early Alert Platform

At Holy Family University, your academic success and personal well-being are our top priorities. The Early Alert platform — powered by Maxient — is a secure, centralized application used by the Office for Academic Success, and university leadership to identify, track, and support students facing academic or personal challenges.

This system enables timely interventions and safe communication, ensuring you receive the immediate assistance and resources needed to thrive in your studies and campus life.

The Instructor's Role in Student Success

As an instructor at Holy Family University, you are uniquely positioned to notice the first signs of a student in distress. Whether it is a sudden drop in grades, missed assignments, or a shift in classroom engagement, your early observations are the most powerful tools we have to help students overcome obstacles and stay on the path to graduation.

Our Early Alert system is designed to turn your classroom insights into actionable support.

Your Action Items

The success of this system relies heavily on the initial steps taken by the instructor. Here is how you directly drive the process:

  • Step 1: Identify Concern (Instructor Only) You are the front line. Pay close attention to early indicators of academic, financial, or personal struggles within your classroom.
  • Step 2: Initial Student Contact (Instructor Only) Before escalating the issue, we ask that you make direct, supportive contact with the student. A brief check-in after class or an email offering assistance can often uncover the root cause of the issue and show the student that someone is invested in their success.
  • Step 3: Submit Referral (Instructor / Staff) If your initial outreach does not resolve the issue, or if the student requires resources beyond your scope, submit a formal referral through your course Canvas shell.
