Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice/Sociology 

The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. The candidate’s area of specialization is open. Responsibilities include teaching survey courses in criminal justice as well as more advanced courses in the candidate’s specialty area. The position will have a start date of August 2024.

The successful candidate should have demonstrated excellence in teaching higher education. It is also expected that the successful candidate will maintain a commitment to excellence in teaching, diversity, scholarship, and service.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

•    Teaching of courses in their assigned discipline
•    Maintaining academic excellence in their classrooms
•    Advising students in their assigned discipline
•    Research/scholarship mentoring and supervision
•    Participation in school- and university-wide committees and initiatives 
 

Qualifications

•    Candidates must hold a PhD, doctorate, or terminal degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology or a related field (e.g. sociology, security studies, public administration etc.) by the start date (ABD will be considered as long as the degree is conferred by the start date).
