Part-Time Professional Tutor for Biology, Mathematics, and Nursing

Reporting to the Director of Tiger Tutoring, the Part-Time Professional Tutor is responsible for delivering high-quality tutoring services in specific disciplines such as Biology, Mathematics, and/or Nursing to undergraduate university students. Collaborating closely with faculty and staff, the Professional College Tutor ensures that tutoring services align with course objectives and maintains accurate records for each student tutored. Essential Functions

  • Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions to undergraduate students in the appropriate field/area.
  • Assist students in understanding complex concepts, problem-solving techniques, and laboratory procedures.
  • Create and implement customized learning plans tailored to individual student needs.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative learning environment to encourage student engagement.
  • Stay updated on curriculum changes and course requirements to support students effectively.
  • Collaborate with faculty to address specific student learning needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress.
  • Support the integration of Holy Family University's mission and values into ICSC.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Sciences, or a related field required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the subject matter, as evidenced by academic achievements or relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous tutoring or teaching experience is preferred.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of and ability to follow university policies and procedures. 
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the campus community.

Work Environment

Operates in an office environment that may have frequent interruptions.  The area is well-lit, temperature-controlled, and free from hazards.  The noise level is generally quiet to moderate.

Physical Requirements

Communicates frequently, in person, over the phone, or via a computer.  Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in-person communication. Regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate a computer keyboard. Operates standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
