Position Summary

With a focus on baccalaureate nursing education, the faculty member will contribute to the mission, vision, and core values of the Holy Family University and the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. This full-time position includes teaching in accordance to best practices, advising students to guide and retain them at HFU, maintaining an active program of clinical scholarship/research to contribute to nursing science and to the translation of research evidence into practice, maintaining own nursing practice to stay current and to build community partnerships, participating on college and university committees, and engaging in service to the community.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Job duties that must be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, and may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics.   • Teaches a minimum of 24 credits/year
  • Develops, teaches, and evaluates assigned courses
  • Remains current in nursing practice specific to area of specialty
  • Exam Soft Implementation with all courses taught
  • ATI Integration with courses taught
  • Participates in the development and evaluation of the BSN program
  • Integrates simulation activities and technology, including ATI, into teaching assignments where indicated
  • Minimum of 6 hours of office time for students each week
  • Participates in the development and implementation of school policies
  • Assumes responsibility for serving as course coordinator as appropriate
  • Actively participates in nursing councils and standing or ad hoc task forces and committees
  • Serves as faculty advisor to BSN students
  • Actively formulates and implements a plan of teaching, scholarship, and service
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and professional development
  • Actively participates in school and university affairs, community activities, and professional organizations
  • Participates in the implementation of university objectives and policies
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and professional development
  • Actively participates in school and university affairs, community activities, and professional organizations
  • Promotes public relations with community institutions
  • Participates in school open houses and accepted student day events
  • Teach courses in all tracks of the undergraduate BSN program
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean and Vice Dean

Work Environment

Operates in an office environment, that may have frequent interruptions. The area is well-lit, temperature controlled and free from hazards. Noise level is generally quiet to moderate. 

Physical Requirements

Communicates frequently, in person, over the phone, or via a computer. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communication. Regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate a computer keyboard. Operates standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Education & Experience

Requirements

  • Current unrestricted registered nurse license in PA or PA approved compact or eligibility for licensure in PA
  • Doctorate degree (PhD, DNP) in nursing preferred
  • Master’s degree in nursing required
  • Strong record of clinical nursing practice, leadership, and experience teaching in an academic nursing program
  • Medical Surgical Nursing, Critical Care, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of and ability to follow university policies and procedures. 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the campus community.
